Calling her “full of life” and “high-spirited”, Bollywood celebrities expressed their grief and shock over the death of actor Jiah Khan.

Jiah (25) whose real name is Nafisa Khan, was found hanging at her residence at around 11 pm last night.

“What!!! Jiah Khan ??? what has happened? is this correct ? unbelievable !!!,” tweeted a shocked Amitabh Bachchan.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma called Jiah a girl with “spunk and spirit.”

Bollywood actress Jiah Khan was found dead late Monday in her apartment in Mumbai. The actress was discovered by her mother and appeared to have hung herself, according to local media reports. No suicide note has been uncovered. Khan was 25.

Why did Jiah Khan commit suicide?

Jiah Khan, real name Nafisa, was born in London on February 20, 1988. Her mother, Rabiya Amin, was a little-known actress in 1980s Bollywood, best remembered for appearing in Tahir Hussain's Dulha Bikta Nahin. Young Nafisa studied film and literature in London and then moved to New York to attend the famed Lee Strasberg Academy of Dramatic Arts. She quit her acting course after landing a Bollywood role.

 At the moment it is difficult to pinpoint one reason why Jiah took that drastic step of ending her life in such a horrific manner. She has left no suicide note and police are probing her domestic help and security people to find more about the incident. The entire film fraternity is in a state of shock, trying hard to come to terms with the untimely tragic death of the young actor.
